What's Playing at the TAP this Fall?
October 27, 2011
2 shows this November at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay
For Shirley Bradshaw, maiden name Valentine, the years have gone by far too quickly and she is now mired in an “unused life.” Unhappy in her marriage, taken advantage of by her children and ignored by pretty much everyone, she talks to the kitchen wall, and to us, wondering, at 42, what happened to the girl she used to be, what happened to Shirley Valentine? As it happens, she may have an opportunity to find out – because her friend Jane, a divorced, self- proclaimed feminist, has offered Shirley a holiday in Greece. And when
Shirley gets to Greece and Jane deserts her, she talks to a rock on the seashore: relating her adventures, her doubts, and her past in a series of reflections that are by turns hilarious, heartbreaking, poignant, and ultimately triumphant. With wit and a colorful vocabulary, Shirley commits subtle anarchy and has the adventure of a lifetime, but what does she do when it is time to head home?
Arthur Hopper directs this work of acclaimed English playwright Willy Russell. Amy Ensign is the utterly delightful Shirley whose observations will strike a chord with anyone who has reached a certain age with a certain number of doubts and regrets – and a certain number of musings not suitable for children. Mature situations and language.

"Daddy D Christmas Review"
Daddy D and the gang are back in town to kick off the holiday season with a Christmas show that sparkles from start to finish. The lively production features funny bits and skits, Christmas parodies and traditional carols. As always, the musicianship is masterful and the comedy is quirky. Song selections include: Sleigh Ride, The First Noel, Jolly Old St. Nicholas, Toyland, Deck the Halls, O Holy Night and many, many more seasonal favorites. It’s the perfect way to enjoy the season with family, friends, co-workers or that special date.
Daddy D Productions is the brainchild of Darren Johnson, former member and co-founder of Frank’s Dinner Theatre. Johnson notes that the format of the troupe’s Christmas program is designed to be “traditional, touching, funny, and
always respectful of the Season and the entire family.”
